Reinterpreting Schinkel: Tension, Ornament, and Choreographed Space

How can Schinkel’s ideas of tension, ornament, and framed circulation inform contemporary architectural experience?

The focus of the design was on three referential concepts, inspired by Schinkel:

1. Tension/contrast between elements, atmospheres and spatialities.

2. Reinventing the ornament as structure, services, and animated overlay of natural elements.

3. Framing and choreographing of views and paths. Schinkel used trees and columns for framing certain views, while choreographing circulation to lead people to it through a certain experiential journey.
